Lions and Tigers and Bears Oh My

Okay I've started a post about five times today and can't seem to get it just right. I want to be funny, witty and entertaining, yet at the same time brief and after only three hours of sleep that is proving a little challenging.

Today was the field trip to the zoo. As you may know I like animals almost as much as I like children, so I'm sure the image of me in a zoo with 60 some odd Korean children brings humourous images to everyones mind.

How did I prepare for this adventure? By going to the Beer Hunter and drinking too much...staying out too late.... getting home and staying on msn until the early hours of the morning...and ending up with three hours of broken sleep.

Boy did I feel great this morning.

Now as you will remember when I first got the notion to come to Korea, the school was not at all organized and delayed me many many times. This seems to be the moa of how to do things in Korea all the time.

The buses left the school at a little after nine, we arrived at the zoo at 9:30, we had approximately twenty minutes to race around to see all the animals, twenty minutes to ride on a bus into the animal safari and then fifteen minutes for the kids to fill out question sheets that we had made for them about 5 minutes before jumping on the bus. Being that the kids barely had time to absorb what they had seen they did not do to well on the sheets.

An hour and a half later after arrival we were already departing and heading back to school. Upon getting back to school we had prizes for the kids who did the best, and since none of them did well we just kinda picked our favourite students. The owner usually has some nice prizes for the kids, books and such, the one that was a little odd today was a beer opener (totally appropriate for an eight year old kid don't you think) with the YMB logo on it. After that we gave them a chocolate bar and sent them home.

No kids at school means no work for me until tonight when I go back for movie night, which will be a feature of the Disney Movie, Cars, copied illegally via the good friends at the American Army base. So for now I am relaxing, trying to stay cool, trying to rest up and prepare to face the real world of teaching again tomorrow after having such a relaxing past five days.
