A Reflection

Alright it's been a while since I've done a list, and I've been in a reflective mood these past few days so this might sum up some of what I'm thinking, some are thoughtful, some are funny (I hope) and some maybe only make sense to me.

Things I Now Know in September that I didn't in May

1. The odd Korean phrase or two. (okay mainly it is all bad words and things that won't get me anywhere in life, but those are the fun things to learn!)
2. Children aren't nearly as terrifying as I once thought they were.
3. Nobody should ever say that a teacher is over paid or that their job is easy.
4. Rice is perfectably acceptable to eat at any time of day or night.
5. Drinking buddies and friends are two completely different things.
6. Red lights are optional in Korea.
7. Cab rides in Korea put roller coasters in Canada to shame.
8. Red pepper paste is the main ingredient in all Korean food.
9. I hate red pepper paste.
10. Korean people are the most patriotic and loyal people in the world.
11. Canada smells wayyyyyyyyyyyy better than Korea.
12. Koreans think that being blond automatically makes you a Russian Prostitute (on a side note if anyone wants to mail me some hair dye it would be greatly appreciated!)
13. My Korean age is 25, all over the rest of the world I am 24.
14. Korean teenagers are soooooooo much more innocent and naive than North American teenagers.
15. Texans. They aren't so bad.
16. An ESL teacher's life style is pretty much identical to a university student's.
17. Koreans don't have a clue what you are saying if you don't add uh or ee on to the end of the sentence. Example: telling the cabby where I want to go "Home Plus." he gives me a blank stare. if i say "Home Plus-uh" he understands perfectly.
18. 'Konglish' shirts are the funniest thing in the world. (english phrases on t-shirts written by people who obviously don't have English as a first language)

Okay I was trying to hit twenty but I'm grabbing at straws now...I'll probably think of a million other things later on that I might add on...or not...we will see.

Home Plus is a grocery store/department store... I think they originated in the U.K. but you can get everything you need there. Almost as good as Wal-mart!

re home plus : okay that makes ALOT more sense, at first i thought you were saying you would tell the cabby "home plus" as in "home, please" ie after a night at the bar... thought you'd forgotten your english :)
