Teacher's Pet

Well today all my birthday cards and packages from home rolled in. Thank you! It was slightly over shadowed by my favourite student, Katie, though. She is like 12 years old and so polite and smart, and I can't ever see her being the snotty-nosed teenager like most. Anyhow, at the beginning of class she gave me a tiny bottle of Canadian maple syrup wrapped up with a card. The card said:

Hello, Diana. I'm Katie. I'm sorry to you. Because I didn't give a present on your birthday. This maple syrup is from Canada. My friend give me. But I don't know about how can use maple syrup. Happy Birthday!
